Fools Die
Mario Puzo
Publisher: Signet Fiction (1978)
Pages: 531
ISBN: 0-451-16019-3

I can't now remember where I possibly read that this was the best novel ever set in Las Vegas. I really hope that isn't true, because Fools Die was a big disappointment. Despite the overtly literary content, the prose was generally inept, the plot was unengaging, the characters were insubstantial, and it was long. Not a good combination.
